Lab Code of Conduct

This group is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of lab members in any form. Sexual language and imagery is generally not appropriate for any lab venue, including lab meetings, presentations or discussion, unless referring to biological research matters.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual images in public places, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention. Members asked to stop any harassing or inappropriate behavior are expected to stop immediately.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed or have other concerns please contact Horsburgh immediately. If Horsburgh is the cause of your concern please contact Elsie Johnson (elsiej@smu.edu; 214-768-4558). Johnson is the Director of Student Support in the Office of the Dean of Students. She does not work for or report to Horsburgh.
