In October 2013, I set Ezekiel’s Wheel on the Zenon Dance Company in Minneapolis. They have a two week cultural exchange with a Cuban choreographer in January 2016. They will be performing the work in Havana and I will get to go along for the first week and see EW performed in Cuba. I was awarded a Travel/Study grant and spent part of the summer of 2000 in Cuba studying Afro-Cuban and Cuban popular dance. The dance Song Awakened grew out of that summer. I never thought I would get to go back. It is astonishing – a great gift.
