The Holtun Archaeological Project or the Proyecto Arqueologico Holtun is a collaborative project centered around the archaeological site of Holtun located near La Maquina, Petén, Guatemala. US and Guatemalan universities collaborate together on this project which began in 2010.
The project is co-directed by Dr. Brigitte Kovacevich and Dr. Michael Callaghan of the University of Central Florida and Lic. Karla Cardona of Universidad Del Valle in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Dawn Crawford of Southern Methodist University has been a member of this project since 2011 and organizes the laboratory with Karla Cardona. Dawn also works as a lithicist for the project under the supervision of Dr. Kovacevich.
