In 1967 SMU’s Texas Archaeological Salvage Program inventoried portions of the Cyrus N. Ray Collection, donated to the Texas Tech Museum. With permission from the museum, a collection of items collected from the surface of Fort Phantom Hill (41JS8) in Jones County, Texas, was retained at SMU. The collections consists of 69 individual items, primarily of munitions-related items and military buttons. The collection was fully inventoried in 2024.
