Bofi Forager Meat-Sharing Project

Bofi Forager Meat-Sharing Ethnoarchaeology Project

The Bofi Forager Meat-Sharing Ethnoarchaeology Project utilizes a comprehensive ethnoarchaeological approach with faunal, isotopic, and cortisol data to reveal a dimension of the food sharing process not adequately considered before: the role of women in forager meat-sharing practices. This study will involve multiple field visits and take place among the Bofi, a forest forager group located in the Congo Basin in southwestern Central African Republic.

The data from this project forms the base of my dissertation research, with the goal to provide a much-needed, more comprehensive approach incorporating women and children that will help inform future archaeological inferences about this behavior in the past.

First field visit starts mid-March 2023, follow the project Twitter page for updates: https://twitter.com/BofiMeatSharing
