About Me

I am a Ph.D. student in medical anthropology at Southern Methodist University. Prior to enrolling in SMU, I received my BA in anthropology from UTA in 2017. I was also honored to be included in UTA’s McNair Scholars Program, which allowed me to conduct research that focused on the ways in which individuals living in southern Texas were impacted by and responded to the passage of the state’s HB 2 anti-abortion legislation.

I was admitted to SMU’s medical anthropology program in 2018 and received my MA in 2020. My current research centers on the intersection between immigration policy and reproductive health, and I am particularly interested in gaining an understanding of the factors that influence access and care-seeking behaviors for individuals living in the Rio Grande Valley.
