History of the "World Class" Kappa Tau
Chapter at SMU:
The Kappa Tau Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,
Incorporated, was chartered at Southern Methodist University in the Fall
of 1974 under the guidance of, then, Omicron Sigma. Because of the
progression of our initial members and past lines, the chapter slowly
faded away.
However, on December 11, 2004, the Kappa Tau Chapter
was resurrected under the guidance of Bro. Zachariah E. A. Shirley
(Former National Pan-Hellenic Council Head Quarters 2nd Vice President)
and Bro. Whusheane Perry, both members of the "Audaciously Platinum"
Gamma Kappa undergraduate chapter at Paul Quinn College in Dallas,
Texas. Bro. Wilson Rubin, member of Theta Mu Sigma graduate chapter of
Dallas, Texas, was the adviser of the Kappa Tau Chapter at SMU and aided
in the resurrection of the chapter.
The resurrecting members - collectively known as the
"Two Knights of the Resurrection" - include Bro. John T. Holiday, Jr.
and Bro. Brandon A. Jackson. Since its resurrection, the brothers of
the Kappa Tau chapter have mirrored the Fraternity's motto, "Culture For
Service and Service For Humanity" and have continued to make their cause
known. Since its resurrection, the Kappa Tau Chapter has been known as
one of the hardest working fraternities at SMU.
