There are a lot of branches of the Howden family and I've undertaken to help knit them together. Whether they
can or should be knit together is another question that perhaps we can find an answer to. The Howden name has as
disjointed a history as the social fabric of Northern Europe. There are branches in Norway under both the Howden
and Hovden names. There seem to be both Scottish and English roots to the family tree. Branches occur all around
the world, particularly in Commonwealth countries.
