I’m honored to be asked to sit on a panel with the talented Cynthia Leitich-Smith, answering questions about diversity in writing. I write characters who are religiously/ethnically diverse, as well as mixed-heritage characters.

February 26-27,  2015 : Highland Park Literary Festival

Highland Park Literary Festival brings to Dallas extraordinary authors, such as Markus Zusak and Michael Chabon. Although the fiction workshops are closed (for the high school students only), the event on Thursday evening with this year’s keynote speaker, Jeannette Walls, is free and open to the public.

Lori is lurking about Paris, France, eating croissants and cheese, from August 2014 through January 2015, and from April- June of 2015.

IMG_0593Trinity Hall Pub at Mockingbird and 75 Although I like to call this the “adult” book birthday, Trinity Hall is actually a restaurant, too, and kids are welcome. I’ll be giving out invisible $100 bills, which aren’t much use. But I’ll also be handing out “Free Drink” cards (that are visible and useful). First come, first served. Stop by and share a toast to Some Act of Vision’s book birthday. I’ll be signing books, too. (Although I’m not officially selling books at this event, you might be able to procure one…nothing’s impossible.)

This is a workshop event for HP students only. However, author Markus Zusak (Author of The Book Thief) is the keynote speaker and will do a public reading and signing at 7 PM on Feb 21st. Lots of baked goodies and books for sale.

London, England for an evening with the finalists of the English National Opera’s Minioperas contest.My libretto, “The Lingerer,” is a finalist miniopera, based on Neil Gaiman’s “Sweeper of Dreams.”
