Scholarship is a very important part of Kappa. We are dedicated to developing intellectual excellence and opportunites for self-growth. One event that the Gamma Phi Kappas enjoy each semester is our Teacher-Administrator Scholarship Banquet, where we not only get to thank our professors for their hard work, but also recognize the Kappas that have achieved scholastic excellence. Other programs to encourage intellectual development are the "A and Skippy Jars" and "Geek of the Week." The "A and Skippy Jars" are passed around during each chapter. Members who have made an "A" on a test or paper in the past week put their name in the jar in order to recieve "Kappa Kash." The Skippy Jars is filled with Kappas' names that have not missed a class in the past week-they too recieve "Kappa Kash." At the end of the semester, a silent auction is held where Kappas can trade in their "Kash" for nice items, such as gift certificates to PF Changs, Wild About Harrys or a manicure/pedicure. The "Geek of the Week" is given each week in chapter to a Kappa who has done something outstanding scholastically around campus. |
