About Me
Note that I'm currently redesigning my site, so if things look a bit bland, that should change within the next few days (or weeks). My name is John Robinette. I'm currently a Junior at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. I've been making web pages off and on for the last six years, and programming in various capacities for the last three.
The university employs me to help professors with technology related projects, such as building web sites, editing video, creating presentations, and so on. It's normally a fun job, gets some important stuff done for the university, and keeps me sharp with new technology (and some old technology), so it's been a win-win arrangement.
I'm a member of the Free Software Foundation, which promotes the idea of free software, meaning software that respects your freedom to control how and when you use your computer. If a multi-million or billion-dollar corporation can tell you when, why, and how to run programs on your computer, can you really call that freedom?
