Kamikaze Girls is based on a popular novel of the same name written by Novala Takemoto and published in October 2002. The main character, Momoko, lives in a rural Japanese town and leads an ordinary life with the exception of her expensive indulgence of elaborate lolita dresses from the Rococo period in 18th Century France. To fund her purchases, she tries to bootleg fake, brand-name clothing left over from her Dad's yakuza (gangster) days. Momoko befriends a punk girl named Ichiko who brings Mamiko into a surreal world of all-girl motorbike gangs.

Two gangs are at war over a treasure hidden in the hillside, and a Man with No Name gunfighter is sent to protect the townspeople from the strife. Part drama, part action, all comedy, J-horror director Takashi Miike’s take on the Spaghetti Western genre is a far-east-meets-wild-west masterpiece. Parental Discretion Recommended for violence and language.
