My philosophy is that websites should easily convey information. If the design overshadows the message, then it's not a good source of information. I work hard to have the page work on most browsers and most operating systems. One of my biggest pet peeves is a page that looks good only on the latest version of Internet Explorer running in Windows. It's information, it should be free to everyone.
