Welcome to the website of SMU's SPECTRUM, the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight organization here at SMU. We are currently in our Fall Semester of 2008 and SPECTRUM wishes to all student's a very successful year. SPECTRUM was chartered and recognized by the Student Senate of Southern Methodist University in 1991. Our purpose is threefold: social, educational, and political. Our primary goal is to create an inclusive environment where all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can speak openly about their concerns and help partake in the stand for equality among the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.

This site was created to share information about our organization, including a schedule of upcoming events. We also aim to provide a comprehensive list of LGBT-related online resources in an attempt to further the spread of knowledge. College can be a scary place, but SPECTRUM is here to give you a helping hand. If you want to be an activist, if you want to educate your community about LGBT issues, or if you just want to have some fun and meet some great people who share similar interests with you, SPECTRUM is a great place to start. You can meet new people without having to worry about being judged or unwanted. We welcome everyone.

MEETINGS: Every Thursday @ 5 PM in the Women's Center
