Purpose

HIS girls celebrating Homecoming 2009!
Eligibility: Eta Iota Sigma is open to any enrolled, Christian, female student who meets university determined standards and who has expressed the desire to grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. An eligible student is also one who seeks the unity upheld in the purpose of Eta Iota Sigma
Chapter Meetings
Attendance is a very important element of our sorority. Every member, new and active, must attend Monday night chapter meetings. Each member is allowed up to three absences per semester, with the Secretary’s notification 24 hours before or after chapter.
Service and Social Events
Every member must attend a minimum of two social, two service events, and one prayer meeting per semester. The purpose of these events is to serve the community and the Lord, and to spend time together. At the beginning of each semester, each member will be given a calendar outlining all events ahead of time. If a member participates in a service event outside of Eta Iota Sigma, it cannot be counted toward her requirement. A member is by no means limited to only two service events and two social events per semester. If any member signs up for an event (social or service) and does not attend, the absence counts as one absence towards that member's overall total. If a member or new member does not sign up for an event and attends, this will count as one point. A point will also be added for every event attended in excess of the requirement.
Active members must participate in two recruitment events during Recruitment Week.
Bible Study and Church Attendance
Every member, active and new, must be involved in a regular Bible study, either through Eta Iota Sigma or through another campus ministry or church. New members must be involved in an Eta Iota Sigma Bible study for their first semester. Every member, active and new, must attend church regularly. The Church Chair is responsible for assisting women who are searching for a home church, and members may use the Church Chair as a resource in this matter.
Dues
All members must pay dues, including both national dues and chapter dues, as outlined in the Financial Contract to be signed by the second closed meeting. There are scholarships available to those who need them. If dues are a problem for a member, she must contact the Treasurer. Please do not let dues keep you from joining Eta Iota Sigma!
Induction
Every member must attend induction at the end of the Fall semester.

NEW MEMBERS
Each new member will go through a one semester pledgeship, in which she will be encouraged to grow spiritually as an individual and also in unity with her sorority sisters. New members will be eligible for induction after completing all of the above requirements and passing the pledge test with 100%. She shall be declared an active member after she has successfully completed the pledgeship objectives and induction.
New Member Retreat and Interview
Every new member must attend the annual New Member Retreat. If a new member has a schedule conflict, she must get in touch with the New Member Educator. New members must also attend a New Member Interview, during which the Executive Committee will explain the sorority's Doctrinal Beliefs.
New Member Weekly Meetings
New members, the New Member Assistant(s), and the New Member Educator must attend new member weekly meetings. New members are allowed four absences, which apply to both new member classes and chapter.
