The purpose of the College Hispanic American Students or CHAS, that serves to promote the self-development and the self determination of Hispanics, shall be to support: the cultural awareness of Hispanic cultures, the educational, social, and recruitment needs of Hispanic students, endeavors of Hispanic students attempting to gain acceptance into SMU, and the interests of concerns of Hispanics and the greater SMU community.
