FAQ
The Cox Entrepreneurship Organization focuses on maintaining a network community for undergraduate students to support and promote entrepreneurial ventures and investment opportunities. Members meet in a relaxed environment weekly to discuss with and educate each other about current financial and business related opportunities, as well as to voluntarily enter into these opportunities on a personal basis. The organization seeks to mimic the operations of a business by applying the business cycle to the organization and execution of fundraising events.

“How the Cox Entrepreneurship Organization was founded”
Founders Jonathan Sloan and Brian Albrecht attended the SMU Organization Fair in the fall of 2003. They were surprised to learn that there was not an undergraduate entrepreneurship organization represented at the fair. They soon discovered that no such organization existed although there had been several fizzled attempts in the last decade. With the help of Evan Lukasik, the organization’s advisor, ideas began to develop of creating a club that would promote entrepreneurship at a younger age than is otherwise available at SMU. Inspired by SMU’s infamous ‘Get Involved’ slogan, the plans were soon made to make the organization a reality.

Since its inception, CEO has grown in leaps and bounds over the course of two semesters. In the upcoming year CEO plans to attend any and all functions associated with the Cox Business Spotlight Series, as well as to host several professor speakers from the Cox School of Business and also from the business community. Along with hosting our annual SMU Poker Challenge fundraising event, CEO will develop and execute a second fundraising series within the next few semesters.
