We are already onto a new semester with an new captain, Melody Caron - how exciting! This Thursday, September 2nd, we are having our first fall semester info session for the team at 8:00 and a second one on Tuesday, September 7th at 9:00. We'll meet everyone at Studio 3 in Dedman. If you are able please come out to encourage the newbies!
Ballroom team practices have been moved to 9:30-11:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 8:30-10:30 p.m. Thursdays. I know this is really late, and for those of you who have morning classes, pretty much not an option. If I could have found us any other space or time I would have.
Also, team practices are starting up bright and early this semester - first practice is on September 2nd. Hope you've been practicing.... but just in case you haven't, we're taking these first two weeks to run a quick refresher course before charging forward into full Bronze syllabus. See you there!
Congratuations to the 2009-2010 team! The team's second year started with a bang with a strong showing at our first competition, Rice's 2009 "Dances with Owls". I am most proud of us coming in 2nd place in the team event. Hopefully we can continue with a strong showing at UT.

The SMU Ballroom Team is a group consisting of solely SMU student members of the SMU Ballroom Club that meet bi-weekly to practice and learn the steps and technique of the 10 International Style (Standard and Latin) dances with the end goal of competing. Currently in its third year, the team has grown from 10 couples to 17! Our team currently focuses on collegiate competitions in Texas: "Dances with Owls", hosted by Rice in the fall, and the "Texas Open" hosted by UT in the spring.
