Embrey building
The new Embrey Engineering Building on the SMU campus is one of the very first academic buildings in this country to be designed and constructed to LEED Gold Standards (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
Recycling
- SMU currently provides recycling in all academic, athletic, and administrative areas on campus, including most classrooms. RLSH also offers recycling in all of its locations.
- Ninety percent of campus offices participate in the single stream recycling program.
- SMU has two cardboard balers on campus to increase recycling efforts.
- The university committed over $80,000 to purchase a new recycle truck.
- The administration works closely with SMU Student Senate Environmental Committee throughout the year and during football games.
- SMU won the 2005 North Texas Corporate Recycling Association "Environmental Vision Award" for Recycling and Waste Reduction.
