Free Public Lecture by Alan Moller (NWS)
At 7 P.M. on Thursday, December 7th, 2000
Room 205, Caruth Engineering Building SMU
They are FASCINATING when studied and viewed from afar, TERRIFYING when viewed up close, and AWESOME when their path of destruction is assessed. Texas is #1 in Tornadoes - so be prepared!
Come listen to an expert on tornadoes explain how tornadoes start, develop, and unleash their fury! Also hear how local ham radio enthusiasts engage in the exciting art of tornado spotting, and how that helps save lives. The SMU Amateur Radio club is proud to host Mr. Al Moller of the National Weather Service.
Also on the meeting agenda is an overview of our wireless and radio-Internet club and a vote regarding our constitution. This meeting and club membership is open to ALL SMU students, faculty and staff. We have senior radio and Internet professionals from industry, and professors, that are mentors for club members (ask for a one-on-one tutorial on radio and radio-Internet topics!). If you ever wondered what all the antennas perched atop Caruth Hall do, now is the time to find out!
The meeting will be held THURSDAY, December 7th at 7:00 PM in room 130 of the Caruth Engineering Building. For more information see: http://people.smu.edu/arc/, email Anthony_Klinkert@seas.smu.edu, or call 972-618-6400. Please join us for this exciting event!
