Minutes for Meeting on 1/15/02

Meeting opened: 5:31 pm

Laura, SVP: 1) Thanks to Lauren and Matt D. for help w/the project over break
2)This week's project is Medisend. We will be sorting/packaging medical supplies for third world countries. We meet on the steps of H-T at 8:00 am and project will run from 9am-12pm so we will be back by 1pm. People from the SMUSH will also attend so this is a great way to plug recruitment!!!!
3) Dino Dash will be next weekend with the Science Place. You must be here at 6:45 am on the steps of H-T. 4) Email Laura what good days are during the week for projects.

Jenn, MVP: 1) Active Retreat is Fri., Jan. 19th at 6pm, most likely in the Women's Center but this isn't definite. Theme is 80s so dress up in your 80s garb and bring any 80s music that you have!
2) We played the game.
3) We will re-install blue/gold teams this semster and division of teams will be announced later.

Scott, Pledge Trainer: 1) Get pledges!!!! We want a big class this semester.
2) We voted affirmative on the list of pledge requirements. 3) We nominated for pledge class namesake:
- Eileen Dashiell
-Matt Dashiell
- Natalie Thrower
- Mother Teresa
If you have any other suggestions email Scott or Kelly by this Thurs. at 5pm.
4) Scott is considering his pledge name to be "Pledge Daddy." If you have any other thoughts, let him know.

Anand, PR/Rush: 1) Info tables are this Thurs and Fri, please sign up for them!!!
2) Info sessions are next Tues, Wed, and Thurs:
Tuesday 1/22: 6-7:30 Portico A
Wednesday 1/23: 6-7 Portico A
Thursday 1/24: 6-7:30 Atrium A/B
Remember you do get service hours if you attend and help mingle.
3) Jersey Days are to be the first Tuesday of the month.
4) Chalk talk will be next T/W/TH mornings.
5) The goal is to get 10 pledges.

Danielle, Treasurer: 1) There was a vote to increase dues from $30 to $40 a semester for actives. For pledges, the dues will be raised to $60. It was voted affirmative.
2) Feb 5th you must have 1/5, i.e. $8 of your dues to be considered at least an associate member. Remember the more you turn in the better: that means more funds in the account for us to do things with.
3) A budget committee has been created for organizing the budget, which is due Feb. 5th. Please help join Danielle in deciding where our dollars go and how they should be appropriated.
4) We need ideas for fundraisers, and we will get points for blue/gold if you submit one.

Summer, Secretary: 1) Roster is finito minus the pledges. We should get a copy of this roster by the next meeting hopefully.
2) A calendar for the next 2 months will be created and sent out to everyone. I will either email it (at least Jan.) and then provide a paper copy later.
3) If you are interested in purchasing a jersey, we will wait until later in the semester to order them.

Appointed Positions:
1) SMU RIDES chairs are Monica, Jessica, and Trenton. Congrats!
2) If you would like to sign up for a position, the options are Historian, Internet Coordinator, Fellowship Chair, Publishing Secretary, and Sergeant-at-arms.

Announcements:
1) Summer: the Women's Symposium is the end of February and we need topical tables discussion leaders for Wed. Feb 27th during lunch. If you would like to act as a facilitator and receive free lunch, please let me know.
2) Danielle: APO sectionals are Feb. 23. The conference is at Austin College and is called Road Trip:A Leadership Development Adventure. Danielle will be leading some workshops.
3) During the roadtrip, there will be an advisor's brunch.
4) Lauren: asked that the Elites stay after the meeting
5) Anand: if you live in the dorms, please take an ad and stick it on your door
