Chapter Meeting Minutes 9-22-98

Service project for this Saturday will be at the North Texas Food Bank.
Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the SMUSH. Bring your friends!!!!!!!! (No, I mean 
really, BRING YOUR FRIENDS). Ok, anyway,

Fellowhip event this week is to meet at the Coffee Haus on Thursday night 
at 7:30 p.m. for a study break.

Rachel reported on how much fun Saturday's project was. They filled out 
over 300 index cards full of information for the Salvation Army while 
they socialized. Jay reported that it was also a great feeling to serve 
food to the homeless ( also for the Salvation Army ) at Sunday's project.

Natalie and Sam led us in discussion and revoting on Regional themes. 
Absentee ballots will be available tomorrow and the winning theme will be 
sent out to the listserv Thursday.

Gina gave the update on the Blue and Gold teams.
This week the Blue team had 463 points and the Gold team had 521 points.
(GO GOLD!!!!). 
The total is now Blue 1626 and Gold 1574 (come on Gold almost there!)
Jay and Natalie were the high actives with 102 points and 81 points,
respectively.
Sam and Renee were the high JI's with 60 and 80, respectively.
Reminder that the leadership workshop will be on Oct. 17th. See Gina if 
you are interested.
Also, it is absolutely essential that you let her know if you are 
planning to go to Nationals. We will get a 10% discount on airline 
tickets if we get them at least 60 days in advance. The airfare will cost 
between $90 and $130. 
Collect soda can tabs to bring to Nationals. Also, old coats and jackets 
to be donated. 
Starting next week, those who do not attend active meeting will be sent a 
newsletter.

Jay announced that 12 pledges were intiated last week.
Pledge Retreat will be this Friday at the HRWC at 7 p.m.
Victory Party will no longer take place at Fridays, but instead at Mike 
Hayes' grandmother's house.

Jen Anderson still has t-shirts to sell at $7 each. Also, do you have 
blood? Do you drive? You do!!?? Well, great then run, do not walk, to sign 
up to be on Jen's Blood Drive Committee!

Jen Nash has tax exempt forms available for committee heads and or 
members who need to buy things. Rather violent threats were made to those 
who have not yet paid their dues by a friend of Jen Nash from Chicago. 
If you missed meeting you missed this hilarious mafia 
character played by none other than Chris, oh I mean Jimmy, Nelson.

Kristi asked for nominations for Delegates to Convention for Nationals. 
The nominees so far are Jay, Sam, and Katie. If you want to nominate 
someone, including yourself, e-mail Kristi. We will vote on this next 
week.
The deadline to register (and this means pay your money as well as 
sign up) for Nationals is November 15th. The registration cost is $35 a 
person and the National's Banquet tickets will be $16 for the Fellowship 
Banquet on Dec. 28th and $19 for the Awards Banquet on Dec. 30th.
Kristi is also looking into getting a Chapter Room for Nationals. 

Kristi announced that we have some prospective scouting advisors now.
Kristi updated Senate today on the number of rides for SMU RIDES.
Kristi also reminded the chapter to help out Tarleton State, the Xi Omicron 
chapter of APO, by attending their events. Contact Jay if you would like 
to attend their info meeting tomorrow!

Talk to Bill Kuhfal and/or if you are interested in attending the 
Tri-Sectional conference. The deadline to book a hotel room is 
uhhh....well... tomorrow (Sept 23rd) and the deadline to register is this 
Friday (the 25th).

Natalie showed off Gina's t-shirt design for the regional's theme "APO 
does Dallas." 

Andrea announced that she got her bill in today. Also, we now have a file 
cabinet for SMU RIDES stuff! Yea! 

Michelle informed us that she and Shannon will be getting together to 
contact Alumni regarding possible historical information.

Renee, although unable to get the newsletter out today at meeting due to 
the fact that none of the copy machines were available, will go beyond 
the call of duty take the extra time to be sure everyone gets one by mail.

Jamie is in contact with Sectional Staff regarding the Sectional Project 
for the semester.

UNT's Pimp 'N' Ho party will be on Nov 7th from 9 p.m. til 2 a.m. at the 
Holiday Inn in Denton.

Aren reminded us all to help him bust the SMU post office for "holding mail."

Jay praised all of the appointed positions for all their hard work!
