Chapter Meeting Minutes 9-15-98
-Mark R. told us about what a great time the Juliette Fowler Homes project
was this past weekend. Half of the group bowled with the elderly and the
other half played card games with Alzheimer's patients.
-Next week the theme for service is "Hunger and Homelessness."
This weekend both service projects will be with the Salvation Army. Katie
invited a guest speaker, Nina Baxter, to talk to us about the Salvation
Army and what they do.
Saturday's project will be an archive project. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the
SMUSH.
Sunday we will serve dinner. Meet at 3:45 p.m. at the SMUSH.
-Katie needs a Project Chair for next weekend's project, the North Texas
Food Bank. Contact her if you're interested.
-Katie also needs people to be on her service committee and this means YOU!
She also people interested in being on the National Bilaws committee.
Contact her for more information on either of these committees.
-Instead of doing the Ronald McDonald House project we will do one at the
AIDS services of Dallas.
-If you attended info sessions, let Katie know how many so that she can
record your hours! *********************************

-There will be a Leadership workshop held on October 17th from 9a.m.-4p.m.
-Gina further educated us on the fine city of Minneapolis. "Did you
know that about 30 out of "Fortune" magazine's 500 top-ranking corporations
are based in Minneapolis?" Were you aware of that? I was not aware of
that. :-)

-Jay will hold a Big meeting Sunday at 2 p.m. Meet at the SMUSH.
-Victory party will have a fun new location this year... the party room at
Friday's. It will be October 2nd.
-Jay is asking for suggestions as to the location of pledge retreat. Have
any? Send them his way!
-Jen Anderson needs people to be on the Blood Drive Committee!
Also, get ready to start signing up to work both Blood Drive sign-ups and
the Bloodmobile. She is going to need all of our help!
-She promises that she will bring T-shirts next week, so bring your $$$!
-Jen Nash says...PAY YOUR DUES! The project involving distributing
Student Guides was successfully completed. We received $100 for doing it.
Great job to all who helped!
-Kristi announced that registration fee for Nationals will be $35 if you
before December 1st and $40 after. Rooms will be $58.
-Kristi encouraged us to attend the 1998 Tri-Sectional Conference for
Sections 32, 33, and 34. It will be held October 16, 17, and 18 at Oklahoma
State University in Stillwater. The registration deadline is September
25th and the cost is $30 which includes a whole bunch of cool stuff.

Andrea announced that Mark, Kristi, and herself met with Taylor Martin,
Arlene, and Rebecca concerning office space. The meeting went very well
and she is currently working on a mission statement.
Michelle announced that we need continue the hard work on the AO History
project so that we can have it finished in time for Nationals.
She also annouced that this Thursday at 3:30 p.m., the Honors Program is
co-sponsoring a lecture.The speaker will be Nicole Malpas, who has done
sociological research in the European Union. Her topic is "Women and Men
in Europe: Equality of Opportunity?" It will be in the Hughes-Trigg
theater. Come if you can!
Sam and Natalie conducted a vote on the Regionals Theme. The winning
theme is "APO does Dallas." (none other than my suggestion ;-)

(And you'd just better because I might...and well my idea just might win
again. And now would that be wise? ;-) )
Renee announced that all articles for the newsletter must be in by 8 p.m.
on Monday nights. Otherwise they will go into next week's issue.
Rachel annouced that there will be a female only race for Breast Cancer
on October 17th. Males can come and be cheerleaders. The cost is $15.
