Chapter Meeting Minutes 8-15-98

The first meeting of the semester took place at 5:30 p.m. at our new
meeting place, Portico C and D.

Katie told us about our first service project. It is this Saturday at the
Dallas Nature Center. Meet at the SMUSH at 9 a.m. and wear some old
clothes, painting and other dirty work may be involved. Possible graffiti
clean-up this Sunday, Katie will keep us informed. This Halloween we may
do a service project at the Arc of Dallas. But dont fret, well be back in
plenty of time to attend festivities.
If you went to Operation Outreach be sure to let Katie know so that you
can get your hours!

Gina reminded us only 83 days until Nationals, wha! The price of the trip
is going to be $142.00. Gina further informed us that Minneapolis is the
Greek word for "water city." Isnt that exciting?. uhh anyway. Next week
Gina will tell you whether you are Blue or Gold team that is. Gina (and
the rest of us) celebrated the excellent attendance of the J.I.s and the
advisors.

Buttons! Buttons! Buttons!
We have nifty APO buttons that you can get from Jen. The 1st one is free
while everyone after that is $0.20. Wear them during rush! oh and your
SMU-girl black stretch pants, too! Um...yeah.

Jay presented his changes to the pledge policies. We passed an amendment
that the pledge dues be raised by $5.00 to cover the cost of pledge pins.
Jay is going to have a pledge committee consisting of about 3 or 4
brothers. Pick up your applications because they are due Thursday! He
will also have a Big/Little committee. The requirements are posted on
Jay's web page.

Jen Nash proposed to raise active dues $5. After much discussion, we
voted to vote on whether or not to raise the dues $5 or maybe even more
next week after some more calculating. Also, Jen will have a fundraising
committee consisting of 2 or 3 people. Let Jen know if youre interested!

Kristi voiced the issue of the regional bid. We voted to form a regional
bid committee. Contact Kristi if you are interested in either being on the
regional bid committee or in being the regional bid chair. Also, contact
Kristi if you are interested in an appointed position.

****Meetings will be at 5:00 p.m. in Portico C-D for the rest
of the semester*****************************
