Members shall receive credit for service hours from the posted meeting time to the end of the project. No extra credit hours shall be awarded for work on projects that are difficult or undesirable. One hour of credit will be awarded to members who show up to a project that has been canceled after the posted meeting time. One hour of credit shall be awarded to project chairs.
Section 1. REQUIREMENTS FOR ACTIVE MEMBERS
At the beginning of each semester, persons who were Active Members during the preceding semester shall have all privileges of Active Membership as defined in the Chapter-By-Laws, ARTICLE II until the deadline for dues as specified in the Chapter-By-Laws, ARTICLE IX, Section 1. Persons who were initiated the preceding semester shall have all privileges of JI membership as defined in the Chapter Standing Policies, ARTICLE II, Section 5, through the end of the semester. Persons who were Associate Members shall have all privileges of Associate Membership as defined in the Chapter-By-Laws, ARTICLE III up to the deadline for paying dues, but not the additional privileges of Active membership until dues are paid. Active members shall be required to pay one-fifth of total dues within the first three weeks of the semester. To be considered Active at the end of a semester a member shall pay all dues and complete twenty-four (24) hours of service. Two (2) hours of this twenty-four shall be service to the chapter. Service to the Chapter shall include but is not limited to rush meeting, inventory of the trailer, cutting of pledge boards, or anything else defined by the President and Service Vice-President. A member may count each active meeting as one (1) service hour up to a maximum of five (5) service hours or they may count five (5) hours of community service done outside of Alpha Phi Omega but not both. A member may earn a maximum of ten (10) hours for an individual project. In addition the member must participate in at least four (4) different projects. Any member who desires to be an active member but has not met these requirements due to special circumstances may appeal to the Executive Council.
Section 2. REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
Associate Membership is intended for Active Members who find it necessary to cease full involvement in Chapter affairs because of other commitments of time and effort. Associate Members must pay one-fifth of the dues required for an Active Member. These dues shall be paid within the first three weeks of the semester. Associate Members must complete eight (8) hours of service. At least one (1) hour of service shall be service to the chapter as defined by the President and Service Vice-President. Associate Members shall attend at least three (3) active meetings or fellowship events. An Associate Member may count each active meeting as one (1) service hour, up to a maximum of (3) service hours. Any member who desires to be an associate member but has not met these requirements due to special circumstances may appeal to the Executive Council.
Section 3. GUESTS
Any Active, Associate, Pledge, Advisory, Honorary or Alumni Member of the Chapter who brings guests to any Chapter function shall be responsible for their guest's behavior and financial liabilities.
Section 4. ADVISORS
Advisory Members shall be considered guests of the Chapter at all Chapter functions, and shall not be required to pay any applicable fees.
Section 5. JUNIOR INITIATES
New actives are called Junior Initiates. Junior Initiates have all rights of active members except they cannot run for elected office. A member stays a Junior Initiate until they complete their first active semester.
Section 6. RECOMMENDATIONS TO ALL MEMBERS
All members are recommended to attend at least three (3) fellowship activities, as defined by the Membership Vice President, each semester.
Section 1. PLEDGE POLICIES
The chapter pledge program is defined in the Pledge Policies that are passed by the chapter semesterly.
Section 2. HOLDOVER
Any Pledge who does not complete all of the requirements for initiation into active membership will be allowed to hold over to the following semester. The Pledge shall be responsible for all requirements of the hold over semester. One-half (1/2) of any earned service hours may be carried over to the hold over semester.
The appointed officers of this chapter may include the Sergeant-At-Arms, Publishing Secretary, Historian, Webmaster, Alumni Coordinator, SMU Rides Chair(s), Fellowship Chair, and those deemed necessary by the President.
Standing committees may include the Advisory, Service, Membership, Pledging, and Fellowship Committees. Any appointments to these committees shall be made by their respective committee chair subject to the approval of the Executive Committee. The chapter shall have an Advisory Committee, consisting of the chapter's Advisors. Only the chapter, not the Advisory Chair, can confer Advisory membership on an individual.
Section 1. COMMITTEE
A committee composed of pledge members shall present awards to every active member in the chapter. A Committee composed of Pledge Committee members will present awards to all pledges of the chapter.
Section 2. ACTIVE AWARDS
The Executive Council will award a Most Active Active Award to one or more active members who best exemplifies the Fraternity's Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service for the semester. Elected officers are ineligible for this award.
Section 3. PLEDGE AWARDS
The Executive Council will award a Most Active Pledge Award to one or more pledges who best exemplifies the Fraternity's Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service for the semester.
Section 4. SPECIAL AWARDS
The Special Awards Committee shall be composed of two Members of each pledge class represented in the chapter, any past recipients of the Chapter Distinguished Service Key, and the chair(s) appointed by the president. A three-fourths (3/4) majority vote of the active members of this committee shall be required to present any special awards. A Chapter Award of Appreciation may be awarded to any member who has provided exemplary service to the chapter during the semester. The Distinguished Service Key (DSK) shall be the Chapter's highest award and may be give to any person who is deemed (1) to have made and outstanding and unique contribution to the Chapter as a whole, (2) to have exemplified and furthered the Fraternity's Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service, and (3) to have made a sustained contribution to the Chapter over a period of time.
The Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Omega shall not condone the use of alcoholic beverages or the improper use of controlled substances at any chapter event. This includes but is not limited to membership, recruitment, "rush," pledge education, and service programs. Due to the damage that could be caused to Alpha Phi Omega and its members by a member's improper use of any controlled substance, the use of such controlled substances at any service project or other chapter function is strictly prohibited. It is the responsibility of every member in the Alpha Omicron chapter of this Fraternity to uphold this policy. This policy applies not only to active and pledge members of the Alpha Omicron chapter, but to members from other chapters in attendance, as well as friends and guests at any such event. Recourse appropriate to an offense may also be taken, such as loss of hours, removal from leadership positions by Due Process, or other measures deemed fit by the Executive Council of Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Omega.
