Asian Council (AC) was formed during the 1996-97 academic year by a group of student leaders who had a vision to strengthen the Asian American community at SMU. They wanted to form a liaison for all of the Asian American organization leaders to interact and promote their organizations.
AC is now a chartered SMU organization and successfully serves as the common ground for the interaction and integration of the Asian American student organizations on campus. The success of Asian Council started with the founders and has trickled down to the present members. The history of AC is in the making,
and the impact that the founders have made is not only prominent in the Council's existence, but is also visible throughout the greater
community. AC serves to give voice to the Asian American community through the celebration of diversity.
AC holds a General Meeting at least once a semester. Any student in the SMU community is welcome to come and share thoughts and
opinions with us.
