AALEC

The Asian American Leadership and Educational Conference (AALEC) is a two-day weekend conference held at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, that gives high school students the opportunity to build a network of friends while participating in educational workshops, listening to motivational keynote speakers, and most importantly, building exceptional leadership skills that will aid them in the future. AALEC is a conference run by students FOR students; it is the only conference of its kind in the Southwest region of the United States.

AALEC’s goal is to encourage youth to make a difference in their community while allowing them to embrace and learn about their identity. AALEC aims to successfully bridge the cultural gap that continues to challenge and inspire the Asian American community today. Past speakers have been professional, inspirational, and successful Asian Americans, including Lisa Ling, former co-host on ABC’s The View; Jin, rapper and recording artist; Kristi Yamaguchi, US Olympic Gold Medalist figure skater; Far East Movement, mainstream pop artist; Victor Kim, America's Best Dance Crew champion; KevJumba, Youtube star; Eddo Kim, founder of nonprofit organization The Supply; and Korean-American rapper Dumbfoundead.

This year's conference will take place February 15th - 16th, 2013!

This year our focus is Leadership. We want our participants to walk away from the conference as stronger, more capable leaders who can apply what they've learned at AALEC in their own lives. If this topic inspires you, be sure to apply!

The Participant and HBL Applications are now available!

We are looking for students who are academically-focused and are leaders in their community, and students of all races are invited to apply! If you are a high school student, please fill out the Participant Application. If you are a college student, please fill out the HBL Application.
